WineRelease.com's November 15, 2002 Monthly Newsletter
Greetings from WineRelease.com a day early.
I will be in Minnesota visiting family for a few days.
My friend Fred and I took a trip down to the Central Coast to see my friend Randall and visit my niece Brynn at her first year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. And what would a trip to a wine region be without sampling the local juice.
On the way down we stopped by to see Shannon O'Neill of Maloy O'Neill Vineyards in Paso Robles. Shannon is a madman of sorts. With a fermentation sciences degree from Davis, he is a winemaker that likes to experiment with clones, yeasts and blends and create big red wines.
He tasted us on 15 different small-production wines (anywhere from 40-120 cases) and they all were not only tasty, but unique. His wines are priced to sell from his $12 2001 Gioi to his $35 2001 Syrah. He doesn't have a distributor, and since his case production is miniscule, it is tough finding his wines so I included his contact information below.
Onto the show....
