WineRelease.com's August 15, 2005 Monthly Newsletter
Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,060 winery listings strong!
Lots to cover.
First, thanks go out to the following wineries that stepped up to donate to the upcoming Taylor Family Foundation 15th Annual Day in the Park; Axios, Cerro Caliente Cellars, Gargiulo Vineyards, Hoodsport Winery, J Winery, Pahlmeyer, Ristow Estate, Robert Stemmler Winery, Qupe, Favero Vineyards, Audelssa Estate, Heck Estates, Hug Cellars, Jeriko Estate, Kamen Estate, Mariette Cellars, Pedroncelli, Rocca Family Vineyards, Selene Wines, Caymus Vineyards, Hestan Vineyards and Markham Vineyards.
Elaine and Barry Taylor started the foundation to benefit children with life-threatening illnesses and disabilities. Day in the Park is a food, wine and live auction event held at Camp Arroyo in Livermore on Sunday, August 28th (noon - 6pm). I encourage you to attend.
Thanks to all who responded to my subscriber survey. I received over a 50% response rate! Here are the averages:
- 32% drink 7-10 glasses of wine a week.
- 29% purchased 11-20 cases in the past 12 months.
- 22% own 21 to 50 cases of wine.
- 24% average $20-$29 per bottle of wine.
- 53% of wine purchased is to be cellared more than a year.
- 83% are male.
- 35% are 45-54.
- 43% have postgraduate degrees (41% college degree).
- 40% have been visiting WineRelease.com over two years.
- 82% have discovered 4 or more wineries from WineRelease.com
- 70% have purchased wine from those wineries.
- 52% are a member of at least 1 wine club.
- 37% receive regular postal or email correspondence from at least 11 wineries.
I also asked "Have you heard of QPRwines.com Wine Buying Guide?" and was very surprised that 61% have never heard of it.
The reason I am surprised is that QPRwines is my other wine venture!
It is a wine buying guide (published 18x a year) that groups wines by the major critics' average wine scores, then lists them by price and ranks them by value.
I will have to step up my marketing efforts because they are obviously not up to par.
And now, on to the show...

This issue's worthwhile wine site to visit is WineCast.net. (wine podcast).
Tim Elliott is a wine enthusiast from Minnesota who started a site and produces podcasts (audio files for iPod or just listening on your computer) about wine. I enjoy listening to his podcasts as I work on my computer.
Please forward this email newsletter to your wine friends so they can enjoy it as well.
Till next month!
