July is traditionally a lean month for wine releases (second only to December) due to hot weather that does not bode well for wine shipments. After writing/typing that statement, I did an analysis of all wine releases from 2000-2009 in my database and came up with a series of index numbers.
The chart below shows the numbers sorted by month, and popularity. September is the most popular month for wine releases (on average there are 67% more releases), and December is the least popular (only 51% of average):
