WineRelease.com's June 15, 2011 Monthly Newsletter.

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,767 winery listings strong!

After a few weeks of off-season rain in Northern California, Summer finally appears to be here. Over this past month, we had friends in town from the east coast, and were able to spend our first day wine tasting in Napa in many months.

Despite the weather, a good time was had by all. We started at the Oakville Grocery, stocking up on home-made sandwiches, lime-chili marinated prawns, tapenade and other goodies, then made our way through the rain and traffic up to Spring Mountain for a 1:00 appointment at Keenan, where we tasted some delicious wines and picnicked on their back porch. Next, we went a bit further up the hill for a unique tasting experience at Guilliams (hosted by the owners in the tasting room underneath their house). We tried to make last minute appointments at some of our other favorites up there (Pride, Terra Valentine where we stayed the night we got engaged, and a few others), but even most rookies know that a last minute appointment for Spring Mountain tasting on a Saturday in late May is pretty impossible to come by. Regardless, we enjoyed the wines and our experience.

On our way back into town for dinner, we stopped at our Soda Canyon property to bask in the view and daydream about the dwelling that will (someday) be there. For now, its a nice picnic spot. We then made a quick stop into one of our favorite Napa wineries, Robert Sinskey, which is always good for nice ambiance, great wines, and delicious accoutrements. Prior to dinner at Tyler Florences Rotisserie and Wine (another favorite), we stopped in at Morimotos for cocktails at the bar. Great ambiance, service, views, and tasty drinks Id highly recommend.

Of course, as our friends were leaving for the airport on that Sunday, the sun came out, and its been gorgeous ever since. We took advantage of a beautiful day and (along with probably a good portion of Northern Californians), headed over the Golden Gate for an afternoon lunch at The Mountain Home Inn, in Marin, a favorite stop for hikers and mountain bikers, overlooking the north bay towards San Francisco breathtaking views. The rest of our month has been filled with more paella dinner parties, a barbecue or two, and spending time with family.

As I leave you to look over the current release wines, I hope your summer is off to an excellent start.....

And now, onto the wine.
