WineRelease.com's January 15, 2012 Monthly Newsletter.

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,832 winery listings strong.

I hope your 2012 is off to a great start. We spent the week between Christmas and New Years doing some projects around the house, going through storage, etc, finishing off the week with New Years Eve dinner with friends, who all happen to be in the wine trade, (making for some interesting bottles). At the close of the night, we played name that varietal / region / vintage, a game thats probably best experienced earlier in the evening; I think half the fun was the wide range of responses. There was actually one person who was able to name all three, while the rest of us struggled to nail down one aspect. Regardless, there are no losers in that game.

In Northern California, weve been experiencing unseasonably warm weather. A few nights ago, my wife, the baby and I walked down to the Marina district for dinner at Pacific Catch, serving a great fish/rice bowl, enjoying our meal outside under the heat lamps. The warm weather has coincided nicely with the procurement of a new grill (Merry Christmas to us from us). Its amazing how delicious a simple trout can be, stuffed with lemon, rosemary from the garden, a bit of olive oil and salt & pepper, when cooked on the grill. (As a slight novice in outdoor barbecuing, Id welcome any recipes that youd like to share...)

Probably the best thing about the grill is it gives us a great excuse to not only experiment with meats, fish, and vegetables, but also, the wines for pairing. I look forward to sharing with you some of successes brought to you by our sponsors, in the coming months.

For those not living the warm NorCal climate, I hope this months issue finds you staying warm and dry and enjoying excellent wines.

And now, onto the wine.
