Greetings from WineRelease.
This month we had 88 winery updates and 44 wineries releasing wine.
Last month my cousins came to stay with us in St. Helena. My cousin Todd is a beer judge in Roseville so we started our day at Mad Fritz brewery for a beer tasting.
Each beer has a unique story and a name that has a twist on Aesop�s fables. Ej Codert told us the story of how the beer is created and the unique flavors within the tasting.
For being in wine country, these unique beers definitely held our interest.
After Mad Fritz, we went to the Yao Ming tasting room.
We were warmly greeted by Chris Foster (formerly at Girard and Herb Lamb) and enjoyed the tasting while learning about the exclusive reserve Cabernet Sauvignon that retails for over $600 in China.
It was interesting to hear how hands on Yao Ming is with his wine.
After lunch back at our house, we went into town to The Saint, a tasting bar, remodeled in an old bank. The atmosphere reminds one of an old classy saloon. We were able to sit on couches in a renovated vault and enjoy a lovely bottle of Chateauneuf-Du-Pape.
Toby was very accommodating and welcoming, not only as he told us about the wine, but in answering our questions and making us feel at home at The Saint.
Happy Thanksgiving. Next week, as I say every year, is the time to open various bottles of wine and share with family and friends.
We are hosting 20 adults and 8 kids so we are going to spatchcock a turkey and cook half in my Big Green Egg and half in the oven.
